HAPPY FATHERS DAY!/HAPPY GOD'S DAY!
6/21/2020

Hello, Everyone!

Just to share a personal song/prayer on Fathers Day!
I do not think of God as a masculine figure anymore - like I used to -
but I do see God as a "parent" in that all things come from God
and are "IN" God. That is what I Believe.
I do believe we humans have misunderstood God since time began
in terms of looking at God like an overseer or supervisor.
I think it is that vision of God as overseer or supervisor that
prompted us to make of God a male figure - since tradition
has long outfitted the male as a proper supervisor.
If a guy should be seen as an overseer or supervisor,
then let's make the one "upstairs" a guy.
And so we have made God a guy since time began, I think,
when, in truth, God cannot be defined in gender terms
since God must be Infinite - if anything at all -
and Infinity cannot be restricted by sex or gender.
Can it?

But it is right to see God as a source of all.
In that light, it is just fine to think of God as a "father."
We could also think of God as a "mother" for the same reason.
Why not? Should it matter if our source is a "father" or a "mother"?
Importantly, God should be seen as a "source" - be it a father, mother,
or just plain "parent."

Even though I do see God differently now than I did as a kid,
because as a kid, I was taught that God is a "father,"
I still call God a "father" in a prayer/song I wrote in 2007 - and recite almost daily.
For what it's worth, I'd like to share that prayer/song with you now,
considering that God is truly the most wonderful "father," "mother," "parent"
of all since without God, none of us would be. Don't you agree?
Should we not all be Thankful for that?

So, Happy Fathers Day, Everyone! And let us think of God as we do.
If you feel so moved, be my guest and make my prayer your own. OK?
We all have the same God as a "father." Why not act like it?
If you agree with my prayer/song, frame it, put it on your wall -
and every time you pass it by, recite it or sing it - or chant it.

Be in touch! And Have a Good One!

Gently,

Francis William Bessler - and
wife, Nancy Shaw

Our Loving God, My Generous God,
Holy is Your Name!
I thank you for my life and blessings!
That's why I feel no shame.
Our Father, My Father,
Thy Kingdom's Here as well as There.
Thy Will is only that I share
what I am with the world.
Our Father, My Father,
to be forgiven, we must forgive.
That's the only way that peace can live.
Our Father, My Father,
I thank you for my daily bread.
My needs are simple -
thus I do not dread.
Our Father, My Father,
to see only good is to allow no evil.
I pledge to you a life of no guile.
Our Father, My Father,
I will always be your child.
Our Father, My Father,
I will always be your child.
