Anti-Abortion, but PRO-CHOICE!
1/29/2017

Hello, Everyone,

Recently, I have been concerned about some bills that are being considered by our State Legislature bodies that deal with attempts to make abortion in Wyoming more difficult than it has been. I know various legislators sincerely believe that abortion is wrong and that it should be up to them to limit them; but in my opinion, they are the ones who are wrong in attempting to limit the freedom of others. But there is so much outrage within the anti-abortion clans; and I believe they are daring to turn their outrage into a violation of others right to choose.

Today, I wrote a letter to the editor of our local Laramie Boomerang expressing my concern about Wyoming legislative attempts to restrict abortion in our state. I won't go into details, but some are daring to decide what is "viable" and what is not via some law. To me, that is outrageous. How dare I try to suggest to another what is "viable" in terms of when an embryo reaches that state or not.

I know it goes against the minds of many who feel outraged that a "viable" human being is aborted; but those same people ought to care for a needy person if they are so compassionate for an unborn fetus that may or may not be "viable." When legislators go so far as to define what is "viable" so that they can restrict another's right to decide for themselves, it gets my ire up - to say the least. I try not to get upset, but now and then I do try to say something too; and the letter to the editor below is one such attempt.

Hey, let us have a good week. January is almost done; and February is at the door. Time is passing on. Let us enjoy it while we can - without insisting that others must march according to our drum.

Gently,

Here is my Letter to the Editor.

Subject: ANTI-ABORTION, BUT PRO-CHOICE

I would like to suggest to our various legislators that they should not be considering the passage of bills that seek to limit a woman's right to choose abortion - and to let that be a matter strictly between a pregnant woman and those she would choose to counsel her. Anything more is a violation of personal conscience for many; and such a violation should not be considered - no matter how it seems to be Pro-Life. If you are Pro-Life as I am, you can always express that belief by fostering or adopting a needy child. You don't have to make a law to restrict abortion.

Personally, I am also anti-abortion; but I am far more PRO-CHOICE than anti anything. If my wife were to get pregnant, I would encourage her to follow through with the birth of our child, but even as her husband, I do not believe I would have the right to demand her to do anything that she would not choose herself.

The world is too full of laws that forbid when the world should be trying to encourage liberty of conscience more than anything else. I can be anti-abortion as an individual, but I can also be Pro-Choice in that I respect another to make her own decisions - with the support of family & friends.

Legislators, if you believe something is right for yourself, leave it at that; and let your constituents decide matters of life - and even a right to die - for themselves. You decided for yourself. Please have the decency to let others decide for themselves too. You can argue for or against something, but please do not make your argument a law. Alright?

Thanks!
