HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!

It is Easter Eve today - and not Easter - but Easter Eve is nice and sunny here in Laramie.  In fact, I think it is starting out to be the warmest day of the year.  Sipping my coffee on a friend's back porch this morning, it was already freezing at 7 in the morning.  Looks like a nice warm day is at hand.

Speaking of "at hand," I am a firm believer that the REAL MESSAGE of Jesus was - and is - to pay attention to what is "at hand".  Find Heaven NOW and realize that whatever is in the Heaven you want later is really "at hand".  I need to just open my eyes to what is beautiful NOW - and Presto, the Heaven I want sometime later is HERE & NOW.

I am reminded of Verse 51 of the almost unknown THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THOMAS when Jesus was asked about the "new world" - when would it come and when could we expect it.  It reminds me of folks today who are still asking that question and wondering about some "new world" when the present world is just the same as the new world is likely to be.  I guess we are all prey to wanting what we don't have - but in the process, we overlook the wonder of today.

Anyway, in Verse 51 of the referenced unknown gospel, Jesus was asked: WHEN WILL THE REPOSE OF THE DEAD COME ABOUT AND WHEN WILL THE NEW WORLD COME?  HE SAID TO THEM: WHAT YOU EXPECT HAS COME, BUT YOU KNOW IT NOT.

And there it is: WHAT YOU EXPECT HAS COME, BUT YOU KNOW IT NOT.  I think that is the way it is too.  It is no different now than it was 2,000 years ago.  We are still expecting Heaven to come, when it is Here & Now.  We only have to open our eyes to see what we expect to see at another time.  It is all there - in the birds and the flowers and the trees - and in each of us.  It is all there in our bodies and souls and spirits - but we have to know it is there - or it is like it is not there at all.

So, Happy Easter, Everyone!  Take a walk today - and everyday - and realize that tomorrow will be just like today.  It is no different on this March 30th - Easter Eve, 2013 - than it was 2,000 years ago.  Tomorrow has not changed.  Has it?  All the tomorrows of yesterday have been the same as the tomorrows will be of our tomorrow.  Jesus tried with all his heart and soul to tell us that in his time.  Perhaps it is time we listened.  Suppose?

Until next time, Adieu!
